The non-stationary ETAS model attempts to explain seismic activity only from the earthquake time series under consideration. The essential point here is that the model indirectly takes into account the effects of external inducements, such as pore fluid pressure. The temporal variation of the background rate intensity of the Noto Peninsula swarm activity is indirectly estimated by examining the detailed temporal variation of the parameter μ (background intensity) in the ETAS model. To investigate the temporal variation of the intensity, we first applied the ordinary seismicity from 2018 to the end of November 2020 as the reference standard stationary ETAS parameters. Then, we estimated the time evolution of the background intensity μ(t) in each region A-D, and discussed the correspondence with the change in GNSS oblique distance through each swarming region. ⇒ See below (PDF in Japanese) for details.
